From Vicki:
I’m an Aussie and “Bunji” is an Aboriginal word, and one meaning is “a mate/close friend”. I’ve added a super-cool aboriginal-inspired slick graphic to the Bunji.
As a former pro bodyboarder, I’ve learned a thing or two about board design that is specific to smaller riders. The Bunji 1.0 packs in all the features a smaller, lighter-weight rider needs in a bodyboard without sacrificing high-performance and premium construction.
I started by thinning out the board for easier grip for smaller hands and a more responsive ride. I ride the 39″ length, which comes in at a wafer-thin 48mm! Thickness is scaled up or down from that size. I’ve kept the board nice and light with a 1.2pcf polypro “flex” core, and enhanced the “spring” of this board with an all-new “mini-stringer” which begins just up from the tail and goes a bit past halfway up to the nose to allow the nose to flex for easier turning, while maintaining a stiffer back half for speed and stability on more down-the-line waves.
I’ve also added Quad Channels and ergonomic deck contouring to enhance the board’s grip on the wave, and your grip on the board. The Surlyn slick bottom is the icing on the cake for an ultra high end board for the rider that wants all the bells and whistles in a lower-volume board that won’t break the bank.
